Bonfire Returns

Nate Stein ’24
On Friday night, Woodberry boys got to experience their first bonfire since
the fall of 2019. In a normal year, current students would be joined by alumni, faculty, parents,
and others. This year, however, only students and faculty were allowed to attend, masked and
distanced but nonetheless excited for the games against EHS the following day. Perhaps the biggest
change is that Woodberry Forest will not be playing “The Game,” one of its longest standing
traditions, this year. Instead, the two schools will face off in multiple spring sports: varsity golf,
varsity tennis, varsity track, varsity baseball, junior varsity baseball, varsity lacrosse, and junior
varsity lacrosse. The varsity lacrosse game against EHS has be live-streamed on the WFSPN
website (see link below).
Though this year has been far from normal, Friday night’s bonfire and pep rally before
the Saturday’s athletic competitions gives old boys a sense of normalcy and new boys something to look
forward to in the years to come.
