Thursday Morning Assembly Recap

Colm Dodd ’20

This Thursday morning assembly the school heard from two students who received school funding this summer.

Sixth Former, Javon Darrien, interned in the New York State Senate through Woodberry’s Grill Fellowship. He experienced, first hand, the local government system and the feeling of gratification he got when helping citizens. He ended his speech thanking Woodberry for the opportunity.

Fifth Former, Austin de la Torre, spent 30 days in the mountains of Wyoming with the National Outdoor Leadership School.  Austin received funding through the Summer Expedition Program. He spoke of the many valuable life lessons that he learned while in Wyoming such as the importance of being adventurous. He ended his speech by motivating the fourth formers to make the most out of their expedition and encouraging the entire school to make use of the opportunities provided by the school.
