With one of the most dominant first halves in Woodberry football history, the Tigers crushed Trinity Episcopal School 48-12 Saturday. Led by Will Wideman’s five touchdowns and Warren Matthews’ celebratory fist bumps, the Tigers were able to jump on the Titans early.

defensive tackle, said. “Especially considering it is one of my last home games ever at Woodberry.”
In the first three minutes of the game, a Khalid Thomas interception on Trinity Episcopal’s opening drive and a Wideman touchdown pass to Peter Hutchinson showed the crowd that it was going to be a blowout from the beginning.
“It was awesome,” said Peter Hutchinson about his first-ever touchdown as a Tiger. “I’m glad I got it in front of the home crowd. I was pretty nervous at first, but after I came down with that catch, all the nerves went away.”
Offensively, the Tigers put on a show with seven touchdowns off 273 yards.
After his touchdown to Hutchinson, Wideman threw two touchdown passes to DeQuece Carter, a beautiful 10-yard touchdown pass to Thomas, and then added a two-yard touchdown run. Running back Jameel Wilson had two impressive touchdown runs for the Tigers.
After taking a 48-0 lead midway through the second quarter, Woodberry decided to rest its starters and give some valuable playing time to the younger members of the team. Ben Locklear, Hawkins Schnabel, and Ford Asherman all provided a glimpse of the future of Woodberry Football.
Improving their record to 5-2 overall, the Tigers will begin getting ready for their final home game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 4 against Fork Union Military Academy.
